As we’re designing and testing changes, we’re looking very specifically at enabling roles (typically with a blend of damage mitigation and damage dealing) and play styles. We’re aiming to add and some powerful and appealing options for the Mesmer in PvE without introducing excessive power creep
Considering half these updates looked like a description for a PvE skill, yeah.

Now, would anyone like to take bets on which remaining decent Paragon skill will be sucker-punched in this update?

My money's on Defensive Anthem.

Panic looks like so much win. It's like Cry of Frustration every time the target uses a skill lol.

Migraine is like an uber hex-form of daze lol

Psychic Instability.. well, not much to be said there.

The most interesting piece of info other then all this though is the fact that they are in fact looking at dervishes and paragons, and oddly enough smiting monks.

Apparently excessive power creep is fine if you're using an already powerful profession. Nerfs for the weak, buffs for the godly.

Commence Mes Heroway. Only problem now is what combo's to try out first.

Most of those need to be pve-only, as they've already had to be nerfed in pvp (or still need to be).

Update hasn't happened yet.

I'm loving the new versions of panic and physic instability, mesmers might actually start to see high-end areas now without relying on Cop or another proffession gimmick. Teams are also going to have to start bringing a lot more hex cleaners to prevent from wiping, which is another plus.

I love the notes for accumulated pain:

Accumulated Pain – lower energy cost; recharge is short; now deals decent damage
GJ Anet, I'm impressed by what I see so far.

Anet are causing the power creep with this "balancing" they've taken too.

Now the other professions left behind said power creep will need to be buffed to stay on the same level.

Definitely Panic + Frustration could be very interesting.

Stolen Speed most definitely

Psychic Distraction could be interesting for areas with a high concentration of one-class mobs. just interrupt like crazy and you've pretty much cut out their damage output.

Migraine looks amazing on it's own, but imagine Migraine along with Panic and Frustration.

Wandering eye was already a decent damage option, but now, whooey.

"Panic – new behavior: “For 1…8…10 seconds, target foe and all nearby foes are hexed with Panic. When a hexed foe successfully uses a skill, all other nearby foes are interrupted.”

My mesmer thanks anet, i am going to have SO much fun with that.

So who's ready for Frustrationway? Punishing Shot + Warmonger's/Wailing Weapon + Disrupting Accuracy should result in near instant death, at least if each of those counts as a separate interrupt on a single attack for Frustration.

Vanquish Maguuma and Asuran Lands...like...now.

Anyways, good to see Mesmers getting some love, though a lot of these changes seem a bit extreme. Also, Fast Casting better be linked to these skills somehow.

While Frustration does sound really good and has bit of synergy, it'll likely be closer to Fragility in that it's great, but not something you'd make a team build out of.

Weird seeing the person who makes the changes is not the one getting paid to do it.
